It is the second time now, you play a gig here in Austria on the Frequency Festival. How do you like this location?
JC: It is a beautiful location here, but I hope the sun comes out today!
Oh yes, it is always rainy here in Salzburg.
JC: Oh yeah, that is what they said...
Very important question: Do you also like the Austrian women?
JC: *laughs* Yeah, we like them!
Does the band celebrate the gig at the Aftershow Party?
JC: Actually both times, even today, and last time we have to leave right away, because we have to go to Poland, where we have a gig tomorrow.
Really? Where?
JC: At „Lowlands“. So, it is not possible to have some drinks.
Oh, I see. But you are going to play on a great festival...
JC: Yeah, of course!
Your lyrics contain mostly stories about women. Are these real experiences or just irreal thoughts?
JC: There is a bit reality in it, but most of the time, they are just stories..
Like Expectations?
JC: Expectations, yes! Things that you want, but you do not have. *laughs*
Your home – country Canada is known as one of the most impressive and beautiful countries all over the world. Do you share this opinion, or do you prefer other locations?
JC: Oh, I think Canada is a very beautiful country. It is so big too and it takes you four days to drive across it. You can go to the prairies and the Rocky Mountains,...and Ontario is very beautiful. But i like Europe too, there are so many different countries. I am Italian, I come from Calabria, so it is really nice to come and work here.
And for holidays, which countries do you prefer?
JC: I like Cuba! Cuba is really nice. I like to go snorkelling. *laughs* Anywhere where there is sun, it is good...and mojitos! *laughs*
Can you remember the most exceptional and impressive gigs you ever played in Europe? Which European locations do you like best?
JC: I would say in Holland, and Austrian festivals are very good too! It is a lot of fun to play here.
On one of the latest „Rock Hard“ DVDs, Danko Jones said that he loved the European Summer Festivals. Do you share this opinion and if yes, what distinguishes the festivals here from these on other continents?
JC: Yeah, I love the European festivals! But there is a difference between the Metal festivals, where the music is harder and this ones here, where there is a lot of mainstream...you know?
Oh I see! It is an interesting question, because many bands tell me that they really like European festivals. So it is interesting to know why...and what the differences are.
JC: The differences...I think that it is better organized, they are doing it for longer and there is more culture around this here. Look at your arms, you have been here so many times...*laughs*
Yeah, indeed! *laughing*
Are there any festivals where you implictly want to play?
JC: Next year, we want to play on the „Sweden Rock Festival“. That will be great, because it is a real Rockfestival!
Yes, Sweden is great! I also like the Swedish people!
JC: Yeah, absolutely!
After your current record „Never to loud“, which has already become very popular, you have reached very much in your lives as musicians. Do you have any further plans and expectations concerning your music?
JC: We want to tour a lot with „Never too loud“ and then we plan a new record for next year and keep touring after that.
Really? So you are very hard working. This is very quick...
JC: Yeah, it is almost like a year and a half,...and then we keep touring.
Wow! Last question: After a tour, many musicians are tired of travelling all over the world. What are your methods to re-gain some power and to relax?
JC: I cycle. I do a lot of mountainbiking and sports.
So, you are very fit!
JC: *laughs*
Do you have a few words for your Austrian fans?
JC: Thanks for supporting us and hopefully, we will see us again in March!
Are you going to play again in the Arena? Do you like the location there?
JC: I like it! We were there before they fixed it up, years ago! Before they cleaned up. We played in every room there! In summer it will be nice there too...when you play Open Airs. I like the stuff there too! If the people from the Arena listen to this or read it: Thank you guys, we love you! Thanks for everything!
That is nice! Thanks a lot for the great interview and all the best for your gig, I hope to see you again!
JC: Awesome, thank you!
